드롭박스에서는 엔지니어의 경력을 성장시키기 위해 Engineering Career Framework를 설계하여 진행한다고 한다.

소프트웨어, QA, SRE, 머신러닝, 보안 등 분야별로 레벨과 책임을 나눠 작성했는데, 나는 과연 레벨 어디쯤일까?

SW 엔지니어

- IC1: I deliver lots of high quality production-ready code with direction from the team

- IC2: I am prolific at delivering resilient and sustainable software projects from design to implementation and rollout

- IC3: I independently identify and deliver software solutions through a set of milestones spanning a specific product focus or a multi-component system

- IC4: I autonomously deliver ongoing business impact across a team, product capability, or technical system

- IC5: I set the multi-year, multi-team technical strategy and deliver it through direct implementation or broad technical leadership

- IC6: I deliver results against a strategic company-level business objective or key component of the EPD mission

- IC7: I deliver results against either a portfolio of strategic company level business objectives (or keys component of the EPD mission) or a single strategic objective with significant complexity

 

QA 엔지니어

- IC1: I plan and execute testing of features and report on quality risks to cross-functional stakeholders

- IC2: Iplan and drive testing for the high risk projects developed by my team(s) and identify and fix simple quality process / education problems improving long term quality

- IC3: I scale myself, the teams and projects I support through my expertise in testing and test planning and I leverage my expertise to drive effective quality process

- IC4: I fundamentally improve the quality process exercised by my group and drive very broad or highly technical projects

- IC5: I set and drive holistic quality direction/strategy on extremely complex, multi-group projects/process

 

SRE

- IC1: I take direction from my team to automate and understand the systems

- IC2: I deliver well-designed, resilient, and sustainable solutions to achieve team-level resilience goals

- IC3: I independently identify and deliver solutions that ensure the resilience and reliability across a broad product capability or technical system

- IC4: I autonomously deliver business impact by leading multi-phase, cross-team reliability efforts across a team, broad product capability or technical system

- IC5: I set the multi-year, multi-team technical strategy and deliver it through direct implementation or broad technical leadership

- IC6: I deliver results against a strategic company-level business objective or key component of the Dropbox resilience

- IC7: I deliver results against either a portfolio of strategic company level business objectives (or keys component of the Dropbox resilience) or a single strategic objective with significant complexity

 

머신러닝 엔지니어

* SW 엔지니어랑 내용이 같은데, 아마도 누락된거 같다. 

 

보안 엔지니어

- IC2: I work with stakeholders, peers and my manager to deliver robust risk analyses, designs, or solutions to security problems identified by me or my team

- IC3:I work on large components, applications, security events or security services. I influence team projects. I drive teams to meet security goals.

- IC4: I demonstrate solid business judgment and understand the organizational priorities. I lead multi-phase, multi-team security efforts to reduce risks on broad product capabilities, security domains, or a broad and complex technical system or environment.

- IC5: I set a multi-year, multi-team risk reduction strategy and deliver it through direct implementation, broad cross-organizational technical leadership, or strategic guidance. I involve myself in initiatives across the company and ensure cross-functional alignment and amplify the impact of distinct initiatives.

- IC6: I lead the definition, design, architecture quality, implementation, and delivery of the most advanced, most challenging, most cross-cutting, and/or most ambiguous challenges in Security, spanning across other organizations and that have a significant impact on Dropbox
